The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) highlighted its commitment to developing local talent and bridging skills gaps at the second Global Labour Market Conference (GLMC) in Riyadh.
Tamkeen executives participated in discussions focused on preparing youth for the future of work and empowering Bahrainis in a rapidly evolving job market.
Tamkeen chief executive Maha Mofeez emphasised the organisation’s efforts to upskill Bahraini talent and enhance their competitiveness both locally and internationally.
She underscored the crucial role of Skills Bahrain in identifying skills gaps through research and data analytics, working closely with the private sector and government bodies. This collaborative approach, she explained, informs the design of targeted programmes and initiatives to address critical tech skills shortages.
“Our focus is on making Bahrainis the employees of choice,” Ms Mofeez stated, reiterating Tamkeen’s dedication to empowering the private sector as the key driver of economic growth. These efforts align with national development plans, including the Government Action Plan 2023-2026 and the National Labour Market Plan 2023-2026.
Tamkeen’s chief strategy and data analytics officer Alya Alaali showcased Bahrain’s support for job-seekers and the empowerment of Bahrainis through training and employment programmes during a Policy Lab session.
She addressed the opportunities and challenges facing the local market as it transitions to a knowledge-based economy, emphasising the need to meet the evolving demands of a private sector undergoing rapid digital transformation.
The GLMC, a major international event, convened over 45 labour ministers, more than 5,000 participants, and 200 speakers from more than 100 countries. It serves as a vital platform for global dialogue on the future of labour markets, exploring innovative and sustainable solutions to emerging challenges.
