Bahrain is increasingly prioritising the tourism sector as one of its key industries, necessitating the introduction of innovative initiatives and the implementation of projects that enhance its historical and cultural attractions, Tourism Minister Fatima Al Sairafi said yesterday.
“This, in turn, strengthens Bahrain’s position on the regional and global tourism map,” she said as she chaired the board meeting of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), in the presence of the authority’s chief executive Sarra Buhejji and the executive management.,
The minister praised the advanced infrastructure that supports the tourism sector in the kingdom. She also affirmed commitment to diversifying tourism products, attracting tourists from key target markets, and building upon the sector’s achievements in recent years.
The meeting spotlighted BTEA’s achievements in 2024 as well as the action plans and priorities for this year within the 2022-2026 strategy that aims to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to the kingdom’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Discussions also focused on issues pertaining mainly to licences and business development, the tourism performance indicators, projects and the economic results of Bahrain’s 2024 Festive Season.
