Ninety-six people have been deported from Bahrain in the latest round of inspection visits and joint campaigns against labour law violators.
From January 26 to February 1, 17 irregular workers were also identified.
In the period, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) carried out 841 inspection visits and 12 joint campaigns in co-ordination with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs and the respective governorate’s police directorate.
Eight of the joint campaigns were focused in the Capital Governorate, followed by two in the Southern Governorate, and one each in Muharraq and Northern Governorate.
Since the beginning of last year, 59,476 inspections and 915 joint campaigns have been carried out, resulting in the identification of 2,833 violations and the deportation of 7,496 irregular workers.
The LMRA urged people to report illegal labour practices and violations via its website www.lmra.gov.bh, by calling the call centre on 17506055 or via the government’s suggestions and complaints system, Tawasul.
