His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, yesterday received a cable of congratulations from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, on
the 57th anniversary of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) today.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister commended the BDF’s contributions to Bahrain’s sovereignty and security, emphasising its role in protecting
the kingdom’s achievements and ensuring stability.
In response, the King expressed gratitude, commending HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s efforts in advancing the BDF’s capabilities, equipping it with modern technology and comprehensive training programmes.
His Majesty and HRH Prince Salman received cables of congratulations from BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. The BDF chief expressed his gratitude to the King, noting the BDF’s commitment to defending the kingdom and its sovereignty.
In response, the King sent a cable of thanks, commending the force’s professionalism and continued progress in military readiness and operational efficiency. HRH Prince Salman also sent a cable of thanks, commending the efforts of the BDF in protecting the kingdom and ensuring its stability and development.
Both leaders were also congratulated on the occasion by ministers, senior officers, National Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, BDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi and officials.
His Majesty earlier issued a royal order promoting 894 BDF officers, marking the anniversary.
Eighty-six officers were awarded the Bahrain Medal, Second Class, the Efficiency Medal, First Class and the Military Service Appreciation Medal, First and Second Class.
The BDF Commander-in-Chief issued an order to promote 3,767 individuals and civilians of various ranks and grades. He honoured 283 officers and 1,289 individuals and civilians by granting them the Field Service Medal, the Efficiency Medal, the Excellence Medal and the Long Service Medal of the first and second degrees.
