Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday officially inaugurated the paediatric hematology and oncology department at the Royal Medical Services (RMS)-Bahrain Oncology Centre, in conjunction with the 57th anniversary of the establishment of Bahrain Defence Force.
The opening ceremony was attended by Supreme Council for Health president Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Defence Minister Lieutenant General Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Health Minister Dr Jalila Al Sayyed, RMS Commander Brigadier Dr Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and senior invitees.
Shaikh Khalid toured the state-of-the-art department and was briefed about its advanced equipment and services. He praised the facility as a reflection of the visionary directives of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to develop the health system and optimise medical services.
“Today, we witness an important step that adds to Bahrain’s record of medical achievements,” he said.
“We look forward to this department contributing to provide the best treatment and healthcare for sick children and serving as a model of excellence in healthcare services.”
