Abu Dhabi and Al Ain law enforcement seized 106 vehicles in January for disturbing the residents of Al Ain city through illegal modifications and loud noises.
Under Emirati traffic laws, driving a loud or noisy car could attract a fine of AED2,000 (BD200), and modifying engine or chassis components without proper authorisation could result in an AED 1,000 (BD100) fine and impoundment of the vehicle.
Under Abu Dhabi's impoundment rules, the release fine for these vehicles is AED10,000 (BD1,000). If the fine remains unpaid after three months, the vehicles will be sold at a public auction.
