Unlicensed scooters have been banned on public roads, emergency lanes and other areas designated for use by cars, trucks and other vehicles.
The General Directorate of Traffic announced that, in line with traffic laws and to ensure the safety of all road users, the use of unlicensed scooters and similar vehicles is prohibited on main public roads, vehicle lanes, road shoulders, emergency lanes, and designated stopping areas.
The measure follows observations of unregulated scooter use, which has led to fatal accidents, injuries, and risk to lives and property, as well as disruptions to traffic flow.
Violators of the new law will have their scooters confiscated and can face legal action.
The General Directorate of Traffic also called upon road users to comply with traffic regulations to ensure road safety.
