A total of 124 undocumented expatriate workers have been deported following the latest rounds of inspections aimed at stomping out labour violations across the country.
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted 1,125 inspection visits from February 2 to 8, alongside 12 joint campaigns, which also led to the identification of 30 irregular workers.
Most of the joint campaigns were focused on the Capital Governorate (eight), followed by the Muharraq Governorate (two), and the Northern and Southern Governorates (one each).
The joint campaigns were held in co-ordination with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs and the respective governorate’s police directorate.
Since the beginning of last year, 60,601 inspections and 927 joint campaigns have been carried out, resulting in the identification of 2,863 violations and the deportation of 7,620 irregular workers.
The LMRA has urged people to report illegal labour practices and violations via its website www.lmra.gov.bh, by calling the call centre on 17506055 or via the government’s suggestions and complaints system Tawasul.
