A monkey has been blamed for a nationwide power outage that affected Sri Lanka on Sunday.
The outage started at about 11 am local time, forcing many, including hospitals and water purification centres, to rely on generators.
"A monkey has come in contact with our grid transformer, causing an imbalance in the system," Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody told reporters.
Authorities said power was slowly being restored to the island nation and its 22 million population.
