Bahrain is seeking to bolster trade and investment relations with India, a key trading partner, officials said at a business forum in Hyderabad, the capital of the southern Indian state of Telangana.
Mohammed Al Kooheji, second vice-chairman of the Bahrain Chamber and head of the Bahraini trade delegation, highlighted the decades-long relationship between the two countries.
“This event reflects Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening its economic partnerships with India and leveraging the promising opportunities offered by the growing Indian market,” Mr Al Kooheji said at the Bahrain-India Business Forum.
India ranked as Bahrain’s sixth-largest export partner and seventh-largest import partner in 2023, with total trade volume of approximately $1.1 billion, Mr Al Kooheji noted.
He emphasised the potential for increased trade and investment, particularly in the food sector, citing Bahrain’s demand for diverse food products and India’s agricultural expertise.
Other promising sectors include agriculture, automotive, chemicals, education, construction, biotechnology, fintech and aviation, he said.
The forum featured presentations on Bahrain’s investment environment and opportunities in industrial, commercial and technological sectors.
Bahrain’s ambassador to India Abdulrahman Al Quood and several board members of the Bahrain Chamber also attended.
