A kite-flying festival took place yesterday to celebrate National Action Charter Day and thrilled onlookers.
The free-to-attend event was hosted by the Bahrain Voluntary Work Society and Telugu Kala Samithi on the beachfront near Al Najma Club, Juffair.
The event was organised under the patronage of MP and society honorary president Dr Hassan Eid Bukhammas, and featured Indo-Arabic cultural performances, Indo-Arabic food stalls, children’s activities, face-painting, henna, games and kite-flying, as reported in the GDN. Teams from Kuwait and Oman were also present with artistic displays of large kites.
One British expatriate resident in a Juffair high rise apartment building told the GDN: “It was amazing – I looked out the window to check if it was raining and a flying horse drifted by – makes a change from looking down at the screeching boy racers in their noisy cars!”
