It is being held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad.
The competition is organised by the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry in co-operation with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
Ministry’s director of Holy Quran affairs Abdulla Al Omari, said the competition features seven categories, including memorisation, recitation and specialised contests for school students, individuals with disabilities, inmates, non-Arabic speakers and the general public.
In addition to the main competition, several incentive awards will be presented, including Oldest and Youngest Participant, ‘Mizmar Dawood’, Best Quran Centre, ‘Family Under the Shade of the Quran’, and Best Local Quran Competition.
Mr Al Omari noted that the judging panel comprises four experienced male and female experts specialising in Quranic recitation and memorisation.
