The Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre has launched the first edition of the Cybersecurity Guardians Hackathon.
The event is being held under the patronage of representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and the centre’s board of trustees chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Centre and the University of Bahrain.
The preparatory day featured specialised training workshops attended by the centre’s chief executive Dr Abdulla bin Nasser Al Noaimi and National Cybersecurity Centre deputy chief executive for cyber operations Shaikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa.
The sessions equipped more than 500 high school, university and postgraduate participants with essential skills to tackle cybersecurity challenges during the competition.
Participants formed teams and selected challenges to develop practical and innovative cybersecurity solutions focusing on network security, cloud security, IoT security, application security and AI-driven threat detection and data analysis.
Experts from the Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre and the National Cybersecurity Centre provided guidance, ensuring both beginners and experienced participants gained valuable insights.
The hackathon aims to foster early interest in cybersecurity among high school students, while university students apply their academic expertise to real-world security challenges.
Teams will submit final proposals by Tuesday, with project evaluations on Wednesday and winners announced Saturday.
