I recently enjoyed a delightful morning at the outdoor area of Salmabad’s Farmers Market, and I can’t recommend it enough for families, especially those with young children.
We devoured a Bahraini breakfast from Mleeta Restaurant which was served in a picturesque al fresco setting. It is the ideal way to enjoy the current weather, although there is an indoor option available. We went early in the morning, however they serve all-day breakfast for late risers, and the food was absolutely delicious.
What really made the experience special was the beautiful ambience. The restaurant has cleverly scattered picnic blankets and hats throughout the grassy area, alongside bohemian-inspired macramé decor, a form of textile produced using knotting (rather than weaving or knitting) techniques; instantly creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere. My daughter loved it!
There are also plenty of benches if you prefer a more traditional seating arrangement. We appreciated the availability of highchairs for our little one, which made the meal so much easier.
The indoor Farmers Market itself adds to the charm and the vast parking area was a huge plus – no circling around looking for a spot!
Beyond the food, there were outdoor activities for kids during the weekend, like bouncy castles and small rides – although I was told by a representative that the schedule is sporadic and isn’t always guaranteed. There was a small fee for these (500 fils per ride or BD2.500 unlimited), but it was well worth it to see our daughter having so much fun.
We also saw popcorn and candy floss available, though we were too full from our amazing breakfast to indulge.
Mleeta is open from 6am to 6pm daily, and the outdoor area is in place until Ramadan. It’s the perfect place for a family looking for somewhere to venture out. We will definitely be back!
