It is with great pleasure that we celebrate the 65th birthday of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito together with all friends of Japan in Bahrain.
The relationship between Japan and Bahrain dates back to 1934, beginning with the export of crude oil, even before the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972.
Over the years, our bonds have grown stronger, and today we enjoy a comprehensive partnership that spans high-level engagements, economic co-operation, cultural exchanges, security collaboration, innovation, and both regional and global agendas.
Since assuming my role as ambassador 14 months ago, I have focused on further developing this robust relationship by exploring new avenues of collaboration and expanding our networks.

Ambassador Asako Okai
Japan has been a trusted partner in Bahrain’s development, supporting the foundation of its economy and sustainability efforts.
Looking ahead, the Osaka Kansai Expo 2025, themed ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives,’ offers a unique platform for new opportunities and market expansions. There is great potential for collaboration in renewable energy, smart cities, digital transformation, tourism, intellectual property business, and many other areas.
The strengthening of the bonds between Japan and Bahrain is thanks to all of you in Bahrain. I look forward to elevating our relations to even greater heights together.
