A total of 115 undocumented expatriate workers have been deported following the latest rounds of labour inspections.
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted 1,230 inspection visits from February 9 to 15, alongside 18 joint campaigns, which also led to the identification of 45 irregular workers.
Most of the joint campaigns were focused in the Capital Governorate (10), followed by the Northern Governorate (five), Muharraq Governorate (two) and Southern Governorate (one).
Since the beginning of last year, 61,831 inspections and 945 joint campaigns have been carried out, resulting in the identification of 2,908 violations and the deportation of 7,735 irregular workers.
The LMRA affirmed it will continue to intensify the inspection campaigns across Bahrain, to address any violations or practices that negatively affect the stability and competitiveness of the labour market or harm economic and social security.
The LMRA has urged people to report illegal labour practices and violations via its website, www.lmra.gov.bh, by calling 17506055 or via the government’s suggestions and complaints system, Tawasul.
