More than 30 people were injured when firecrackers exploded at a crowded football ground in Malappuram, Kerala, during pre-match celebrations at a local tournament on Tuesday.
Witnesses reported that some fireworks flew into the front-row seats when they were set off, burning and injuring spectators as they tried to run for cover.
According to the police, there were no fatalities, but several individuals were taken to hospital. It has also been noted that the organisers did not have a fireworks display permit.
