His Majesty King Hamad has commended Al Azhar’s role in promoting Islam’s message of moderation, tolerance and compassion.
His Majesty was speaking as he received Al Azhar Grand Imam and Muslim Council of Elders chairman Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb, at Sakhir Palace yesterday, on the sidelines of his participation in the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference.
The King welcomed the Grand Imam and commended his participation in the conference. He wished him and all participants success in achieving the conference’s objectives, serving the interests of the Islamic nation, and strengthening solidarity and unity in addressing current challenges.
His Majesty also praised Dr Al Tayeb’s efforts in promoting tolerance, coexistence and dialogue, as well as fostering co-operation among nations of different religions and cultures.
He underscored Bahrain’s longstanding commitment to upholding the values and principles of Islam, founded on tolerance, coexistence, peace, and respect for others while promoting human fraternity.
Dr Al Tayeb expressed gratitude and appreciation to the King for hosting the conference. He praised His Majesty’s efforts in serving Islam, supporting Arab and Islamic causes, and advancing peace, coexistence and co-operation among nations and cultures.
