The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) yesterday announced that it is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Unesco-King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education.
Deadline for nominations is March 28.
The prize aims to honour pioneering international projects and programmes that use information and communication technology (ICT) to provide education for all, in line with Unesco’s main goal of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all through electronic systems.
The prize was launched by His Majesty King Hamad in 2005.
Nominations must be submitted through the national commissions of Unesco member states or non-governmental organisations in official partnership with the UN organisation.
Two winners will be selected based on recommendations from an independent international jury.
Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma underscored the global impact of the award in supporting and recognising innovative projects that leverage technology to enhance learning opportunities, in alignment with sustainable development goals.
The minister noted that the theme of the 2025 edition is ‘Preparing learners and teachers for the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence’.
The award aims to honour outstanding projects from individuals, institutions and non-governmental organisations worldwide that have been in operation for at least one year.
