Seven female Saudi Arabian artists are displaying their work in Bahrain and sharing their artistic journeys in a stunning exhibition entitled ‘Whispers’.
A total of 57 paintings have been placed on display at Seef Mall and the event was officially opened yesterday by National Arts Council member Shaikha Dwa bint Khalid Al Khalifa.
The exhibition has been organised by Bahrain art group Colours of The East in partnership with the council.
Whispers described as a ‘visual dialogue that reflects the harmony of artistic diversity’, merges ‘personal vision with cultural identity’. “It is a unique experience that blends authenticity with innovation,” said Shaikha Dwa.
The exhibition, opened to coincide with Saudi Foundation Day, celebrates art as a voice that expresses ‘a homeland pulsating with creativity’, the artists collectively said in a statement.
The works, created by Thurayya Naji, Manal Mirza, Merfat Qawas, Somaya Hejazi, Hanadi Farhat, Hana Natto and Hinas Farhat, will remain on display until March 1.
“Bahrain provides a unique platform of us to showcase our work and we delighted to be here,” added Ms Naji.
Shaikha Dwa expressed her joy in hosting the collective, stressing the ‘deep and strong ties between the two nations and the importance of such cultural exchanges’.
“The precision and beauty of the exhibited artworks should be commended,” she added, praising the organisers role in bringing the exhibition to life at the popular mall.
The exhibition is being curated by renowned artist Mahdi Al Jalawi. He noted that each artist had a distinctive style, allowing experiences to intersect between abstraction, impressionism and modernity creating a ‘visual dialogue that reflects the richness of contemporary Saudi creativity’.
“Together, they embark on an artistic journey that transcends borders, serving as a mirror of emotions and a moment of contemplation on the meanings of beauty and free expression,” he added.
During their stay in Bahrain, the artists will visit the studios of council chairman Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and award-winning Bahraini artist Abbas Al Mousawi, as well as enjoy trips to the Pearling Path and other attractions.
