Grammy Award-Winning, Emmy and BAFTA-nominated film and television composer, Lorne Balfe took the stage last night at the Bahrain National Theatre, for the second of two ‘sellout’ performances in the kingdom, as part of the Spring of Culture’s 19th edition.
As the Academy Award-winning blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick score was performed live-to-picture on a big screen, Mr Balfe was joined by ‘Britain’s most adventurous orchestra’ Manchester Camerata.
The immersive event delighted audiences and offered a fresh perspective to the film, highlighting music’s integral role in storytelling and enhancing the emotional impact of the cinematic experience.
Mr Balfe is renowned for his work on major films such as Mission Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, and His Dark Materials. His collaboration on Top Gun: Maverick, alongside Harold Falter Meyer, Lady Gaga and Hans Zimmer, has been lauded for its innovative fusion of classic themes and contemporary compositions.
Manchester Camerata has opened the famous Pyramid stage at the Glastonbury Festival and performed at the MTV Europe Music Awards, broadcast live to more than 300 million people worldwide.
Known for creating immersive, multi-faceted experiences for its audiences, collaboration is at the heart of what the orchestra does, working with artists across the classical, pop, electronic and house music scenes.
The event was organised by Beyon Al Dana Amphitheatre with two sold-out nights.
