The Cabinet emphasised the importance of the meeting held in Saudi Arabia, at the invitation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in which His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad, participated.
Yesterday’s session, at Gudaibiya Palace, was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
The meeting in Riyadh was also attended by the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, UAE President Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Kuwait Amir Shaikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Qatar Amir Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Jordan’s King Abdullah and Egypt President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi.
The Cabinet highlighted the ongoing development of the Bahrain International Garden Show, which was held under the patronage of His Majesty. The event was inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the King and Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD).
The Cabinet commended the participating pavilions at the garden show, which showcased modern agricultural technologies. These exhibits highlighted the advancements in sustainable agriculture within the kingdom and the wider region.
The Cabinet underscored the importance of the initiatives and recommendations from the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference, hosted by the Bahrain under the patronage of the King. The conference reaffirmed the significance of promoting moderate Islamic thought to strengthen societal stability and national sovereignty. Additionally, the Cabinet emphasised the need for innovative and effective mechanisms to foster unity, understanding, and inclusivity within Islamic society.
The Cabinet expressed its gratitude to the participants for their efforts in ensuring the success of the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference. The conference was attended by Grand Imam of Al Azhar Al Sharif and chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb, as well as more than 400 Islamic scholars, religious leaders, intellectuals, and experts from across the Islamic world.
The Cabinet commended the efforts of both public and private entities in their participation in Bahrain Sports Day and the events aimed at raising sports awareness within the community. The Cabinet also highlighted the prominent role of the General Sports Authority, led by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority president, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in organising sports events across the kingdom.
The Cabinet emphasised the importance of the visit of Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Bahrain. It highlighted the role of the visit in enhancing bilateral ties and fostering mutual benefits for both nations.
The Cabinet extended its congratulations to Kuwait, its Amir, its leadership, and its people on the occasion of National Day and Kuwait Liberation Day. The Cabinet wished Kuwait further progress and prosperity under the leadership of Shaikh Meshal Al Sabah.
The Cabinet discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Government Executive Committee regarding developments in priority draft laws.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Government Executive Committee regarding proposals to enhance the efficiency of housing services for Bahraini citizens.
3. A memorandum submitted by the Foreign Minister on the topics included in the draft agenda of the 163rd Ministerial Council Meeting of the GCC.
4. A memorandum submitted by the Finance and National Economy Minister on the most important topics discussed during the second meeting of the Bahrain-Egypt Government Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Co-operation, which aims to enhance relations and areas of co-operation between Bahrain and Egypt.
5. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on financing the development of the second phase of the Shaikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Highway Upgrade project.
6. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the draft law ratifying the agreement between Bahrain and Jersey on the elimination of double taxation, regarding income tax and the prevention of tax evasion and avoidance.
7. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft resolution regulating conferences and trade exhibitions.
8. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a memorandum of understanding between the Council for Developing Mechanisms for Resolving International Commercial Disputes in Bahrain and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes for co-operation in the field of settling international disputes.
9. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the government’s response to three proposals submitted by Parliament.
