The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) has announced the opening of support offices for Bahraini women in social development centres across all four governorates of Bahrain.
The initiative aims to enhance access to SCW’s support services in line with the directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and SCW president.
SCW secretary general Lulwa Al Awadhi noted that the decision was approved during SCW’s fourth meeting, with four offices to be established in partnership with the Social Development Ministry.
These offices will be staffed by qualified personnel from SCW’s General Secretariat, specialising in family counselling and legal assistance, she said.
They will be based in social development centres and will work in co-ordination with ministry services and other government institutions to provide comprehensive support, Ms Al Awadhi added.
She noted that since 2004, SCW has operated dedicated offices serving as a contact point between Bahraini women and the council for receiving and addressing complaints.
Ms Al Awadhi said that the new offices will expand this service, making it easier for women to access support, address challenges and receive assistance in overcoming barriers to government services.
Social Development Minister Osama Al Alawi commended SCW’s long-standing efforts, led by HRH Princess Sabeeka, to advance women’s empowerment and safeguard their achievements.
He emphasised the ministry’s commitment to continued co-operation with SCW to enhance services that align with national efforts to support Bahraini women.
