The importance of raising awareness about planting mangroves and doubling Bahrain’s afforestation efforts have been highlighted.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed their positive impact on Bahrain’s environment and their contribution to achieving food security when he chaired a meeting on the latest developments of Bahrain Mangroves Initiative at Riffa Palace.
He highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to adopting modern practices to address global climate change challenges, in line with the ambitious vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Mohammed emphasised the importance of national efforts in supporting environmental sustainability by integrating strategies and practices as well as enhancing co-operation among all stakeholders to achieve the goals of the National Action Plan, including carbon neutrality.
Progress in implementing the afforestation plan was reviewed.
The Bahrain Mangroves Initiative’s participation in the Bahrain International Garden Show as part of the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry’s pavilion and its success were reviewed.
In this regard, Shaikh Mohammed highlighted the success of the garden show, attributing it to the directives and support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty and National Initiative for Agricultural Development advisory council chairperson.
Shaikh Mohammed affirmed HRH Princess Sabeeka’s commitment to the kingdom’s agricultural sector and the various initiatives that contribute to its development, highlighting their significant impact on Bahrain’s green spaces.
He congratulated the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry on winning first place in the Best Government Sector Pavilion category at the show, in which the Bahrain Mangroves Initiative participated. He also commended the efforts made by the ministry in supporting development efforts and strengthening the agricultural sector in Bahrain, wishing it success in achieving the kingdom’s aspirations.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to everyone involved in the initiative’s pavilion at the garden show.
He affirmed that, through national efforts, the kingdom will be able to achieve its wide-ranging ambitions across all fields.
A number of senior officials also attended the meeting.
