An interactive Open House to hear the issues and grievances of the Indian community in Bahrain was held at the Indian Embassy yesterday.
Chaired by Ambassador Vinod Jacob, the session was conducted in English, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam, and hosted a panel of lawyers.
It was attended by more than 25 Indian nationals.
According to the embassy, most of the cases raised during the previous open house have been resolved. A number of distressed individuals, including housemaids, have been provided with lodging, emergency certificates and flight tickets with the support of the Indian government’s Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF).
Mr Jacob highlighted the involvement of the community in the embassy’s ‘India in Bahrain Festival’ and the Indian Film Festival.
