The pioneering endeavours of Bahraini women came under the spotlight at the weekly Cabinet meeting, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Cabinet yesterday praised their achievements to mark the upcoming International Women’s Day (IWD) on Saturday.
They highlighted the ambitious programmes and strategies of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and SCW president.
This year’s IWD theme will be ‘Accelerate Action’ and the annual event recognises women’s contributions across various fields, raises awareness about gender equality and promotes empowerment.
As reported in the GDN, the SCW recently announced the opening of support offices for Bahraini women in social development centres across all four governorates of Bahrain. The initiative aims to enhance access to support services in line with the directives of HRH Princess Sabeeka.
The Cabinet also reviewed the implementation of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s directive to inaugurate, restore and develop 40 mosques under the Sunni and Jaffari Endowments across the kingdom’s governorates.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister further directed the relevant authorities to carry on with the mosque development plans throughout the year, in order to enhance infrastructure and provide the best services to worshippers.
