Janmesh Lenka, a 16-month-old boy from Odisha, India became the youngest organ donor in the state, giving new life to two patients.
Janmesh was taken to AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) Bhubaneswar after experiencing a blockage in his airway but was declared brain dead on March 1.
In their deep sorrow, his parents chose to donate his organs. His liver was given to a child with severe liver failure in New Delhi, and his kidneys were transplanted together into a teenager at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. This was only the second operation of this kind in the state.
Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, the executive director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, praised the medical team and thanked Janmesh's parents for their extraordinary kindness.
Janmesh's mother said, "I will not get my son back. But some other mothers will feel happy after my son's organs help their children."
Before cremation, Janmesh's body received a guard of honour.
