Manama: Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, commended the United Nations General Assembly’s approval of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s initiative, presented by the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence (KHGC), to establish the International Day for Peaceful Coexistence, to be observed annually on January 28.
He emphasised that this achievement adds to the achievements under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in promoting a culture of peace, tolerance, and coexistence.
The Minister commended the role of the KHGC and its Board of Trustees, chaired by Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation Telecommunications in developing interfaith and intercultural dialogue, promoting peaceful solutions, and rejecting divisions through balanced and effective diplomacy that establishes peace as a strategic and unwavering choice.
Dr. Juma highlighted the key role of education in promoting sustainable peace, preventing conflicts, and developing a shared vision for peaceful coexistence. He noted the importance of dialogue, communication, and respect for cultural diversity within societies and noted the inclusion of these values in curricula and student activities to instil them in children, youth, and young adults. He underscored the Ministry of Education’s commitment to embedding these principles within its educational framework.
