Manama: Following the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to enhance government data management, the National Taskforce for Information and Population, in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), held a national workshop on External Sector Statistics.
The workshop focused on IMF requirements for disseminating External Sector Statistics and Balance of Payments data. It brought together around 60 representatives from government entities involved in compiling and disseminating macroeconomic and financial data.
Discussions highlighted the importance of the Balance of Payments as a comprehensive record of a country's economic relations with the world.
The IMF expert held in-depth discussions on the components of External Sector Statistics, highlighting Bahrain’s commitment to advancing its tier in the IMF Data Standards Framework in preparation for subscribing to the Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS).
The expert noted that SDDS enhances transparency by ensuring the publication of comprehensive external sector data, boosting investor confidence and attracting foreign investment.
The workshop underscored the National Taskforce for Information and Population's commitment to adopting international best practices in data publication and dissemination. It aims to ensure Bahrain’s economic and social progress is accurately represented in global reports, enhancing its regional and international standing.
