The HRH Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment has gained significant international recognition, as reflected in its growing global participation and the diversity of projects and initiatives it attracts.
This prestigious Bahraini initiative was launched on a global scale to showcase success stories of institutions and individuals advancing women’s empowerment worldwide. It also serves as a platform for international recognition of outstanding achievements in this field.
In partnership with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), Bahrain – through the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) – will officially announce the launch of the third edition of the awards on March 11. This marks the opening of applications and nominations for the next cycle.
Building on the experiences and successes of the previous two editions, the third edition represents a significant milestone. It is set to be launched on the sidelines of the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York City this month.
The global edition of the award was first launched in March 2018, during the 62nd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of its national-level inception.
The award launch was attended by high-level representatives from countries around the world, as well as international institutions and organisations dedicated to women’s empowerment.
The award aims to support and encourage national efforts within UN member states to advance gender equality and strengthen women’s roles as equal partners in driving comprehensive and sustainable development.
