The Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and the General Directorate of Traffic yesterday announced the availability of their services on the unified MyGov app.
This is in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to advance digital transformation. Interior Minister and Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology chairman General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa launched the initiative.
Interior Ministry Under-Secretary for NPRA Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa emphasised that making services available on MyGov is a significant step in facilitating access for citizens and residents to government services.
“In its initial phase, the application provides several NPRA services, including passport and residency display services. More services will be integrated into MyGov to enhance accessibility and improve user experience, in collaboration with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA).”
Shaikh Hisham noted that the application serves as a unified platform that offers access to various services and features, including the display of official government documents such as identity cards, passports and birth certificates, as well as government notifications.
Director General of Traffic Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa noted that traffic services available on the MyGov app in the first phase include display of driving licences and vehicle ownership details, renewal of driving licenses and vehicle registrations, and payment of traffic fines.
“Users can access these services via the enhanced eKey 2.0 system, which features biometric authentication through facial recognition for added security and ease of access.”
“The transfer of all traffic services from the existing Traffic Services app to MyGov will be completed in phases in co-operation with the iGA. The current Traffic Services app will be gradually phased out based on user feedback,” Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman added.
The MyGov app is an innovative digital initiative providing secure, unified access to multiple government services. It is integrated with the upgraded eKey 2.0 system, offering a seamless and secure digital experience for all users. In its first phase, the application includes 41 government services from nine entities, contributing to easier service access for citizens and residents.
