The Al Noor Charity Welfare Society held the award ceremony of the fifth edition of the His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Quran Award.
The ceremony was attended by Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
General co-ordinator of the award Jamal Dawood delivered a speech on behalf of Al Noor Charity Welfare Society president and head of the award’s permanent committee Shaikha Lamia bint Mohammed Al Khalifa.
Shaikha Lamia praised Shaikha Lulwa bint Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa for establishing and supporting the award in honour of her late father. She noted that it is one of the largest Quranic competitions, both in participation and prize value. This edition saw more than 1,000 male and female contestants, which highlights the competition’s growth and the strong interest in Quran memorisers and reciters.
Shaikha Lamia highlighted the positive response to the competition for the new identity and logo of the HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Quran Award, announced in December.
Artists, designers and institutions submitted various creative works reflecting aspects of the competition. After a thorough review, the committee shortlisted three designs for the final round, with the top selection to be announced later in alignment with the logo’s objectives.
Shaikha Lamia also commended the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry for supporting the competition’s procedures. She also commended the co-operation with the Sunni Endowments Directorate, represented by Sunni Endowments Council chairman Dr Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Hajeri.
Dr Shaikh Al Hajeri praised the initiative of Shaikha Lulwa, highlighting her dedication and generosity in honouring her late father, as well as her continuous efforts to enhance and expand the competition each year. He noted that the competition has now drawn thousands of young Quran memorisers. He also thanked Shaikha Lamia for her efforts in co-ordinating the award.
Shaikh Mohammed presented awards to the winners.
