The launch of Bahrain’s first locally-made satellite has been moved to Saturday, reports Naman Arora.
According to several online sources, the Transporter 13 mission, on which ‘Al Munther’ will be departing, has been rescheduled to March 15 at 9.39am local time.
‘Al Munther’ – a 3.2kg nanosatellite built entirely by the kingdom’s space engineers and scientists – will tentatively be launched on board a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The launch date and time are subject to change based on a number of factors, including weather, atmospheric conditions and other launches.
The nanosatellite features four locally-developed payloads, including a medium resolution space camera, artificial intelligence-based image processing, cybersecurity module and a unique radio transmission payload, which will broadcast Bahrain’s national anthem and a message from His Majesty King Hamad that can be decoded and received by amateur radio enthusiasts and satellite-receiving stations around the world.
