Female winners of the fifth edition of the His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Quran Award were honoured at a ceremony organised by Al Noor Charity Welfare Society yesterday.
The event was attended by Al Noor Charity Welfare Society honorary chairwoman Shaikha Lulwa bint Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Society president and head of the award’s permanent committee Shaikha Lamia bint Mohammed Al Khalifa commended Shaikha Lulwa for her initiative in establishing and supporting the award, in honour of the late HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Shaikha Lamia highlighted the award’s importance as one of the leading Quran competitions in terms of participation and prize value. “More than 1,000 competitors took part in this edition, reflecting the growing popularity of the competition,” she said.
She also noted the positive response to the award’s identity and logo design competition, launched in December, which received numerous creative submissions from artists and institutions. The selection process is ongoing, with three final designs shortlisted for further evaluation.
She thanked the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry, under-secretary, and director of the Holy Quran Affairs Directorate, as well as the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs for the support.
Shaikha Lamia also commended the co-operation with the Sunni Endowments Directorate, represented by Sunni Endowments Council chairman Dr Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Hajeri.
A video presentation was shown on the HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Quranic Personality Award.
Shaikha Aisha bint Rashid Al Khalifa presented awards to the winners of various categories.
The initial and final rounds of the competition were held in January and February, marking the fifth consecutive year that Al Noor Charity Welfare Society has organised the award.
