The Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry organised an introductory workshop on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The workshop is the first in a series of specialised sessions aimed at enhancing awareness and building national capacity to achieve the SDGs in line with the Government Plan (2023-2026) and Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
Under-Secretary for Land Transport and Post Affairs at the ministry Fatima Al Dhaen emphasised the ministry’s commitment to developing infrastructure, supporting digital transformation, and providing safe, integrated, and sustainable transportation and communication services.
These efforts align with the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Ms Al Dhaen underscored the ministry’s commitment to integrating the SDGs into its strategic plan, collaborating with the Sustainable Development Ministry and relevant UN organisations, and ensuring co-ordination at the national level.
These efforts aim to enhance achievements in infrastructure and regulatory development, advance sustainable transport projects, adopt environmentally friendly practices, and support innovative digital solutions to deliver high-quality, efficient, and sustainable services for all citizens and residents.
Sustainable Development Ministry assistant under-secretary for sustainable development Dana Hamza provided an overview of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and key national achievements across various development sectors, particularly in transportation and telecommunications.
She emphasised the ministry’s commitment to co-ordinating national efforts in partnership with government entities to advance comprehensive and sustainable development across economic, social, and environmental dimensions.
