The Cabinet has welcomed the launch of the third edition of the Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment.
Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and Supreme Council for Women president, announced the launch through a recorded address during the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in New York.
The Cabinet, at its weekly meeting chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, affirmed that the award reflects Bahrain’s commitment to supporting global efforts to advance women’s roles in sustainable development.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality and reception extended to him and the accompanying delegation during his visit to the UAE.
He noted that the gesture reflects the enduring strength of Bahrain-UAE relations and their robust multisectoral collaboration, supported by His Majesty and UAE President Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Marking Community Partnership Day, the Cabinet recognised the dedication and contributions of Bahraini citizens towards the kingdom’s development. It also recognised the Interior Ministry’s role in fostering community partnership.
As the Arab League marks its 80th anniversary, the Cabinet reaffirmed the kingdom’s commitment, in its capacity as the current Chair of the Arab Council, to supporting initiatives that enhance Arab unity and co-operation, while acknowledging the league’s role in strengthening regional collaboration.
The Cabinet welcomed Bahrain International Airport’s recognition as the Best Airport at Arrivals globally in the Airport Service Quality Awards by Airports Council International, underscoring the kingdom’s commitment to enhancing its global competitiveness.
The Cabinet approved the following:
- A memorandum submitted by the ministerial committee for financial and economic affairs and fiscal balance on updating the business activity requirements guide in the Sijilat system.
- A memorandum submitted by the ministerial committee for legal and legislative affairs on a draft decree amending provisions of the National Space Science Agency’s founding decree.
- A memorandum on a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic passport holders between Bahrain and Morocco.
- A memorandum on an agreement between the Information and eGovernment Authority and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, focusing on data and AI collaboration.
- A memorandum on the government’s response to three proposals submitted by Parliament.
The Cabinet reviewed the following:
- A memorandum submitted by the ministerial committee for development and infrastructure projects on its 2024 work and key achievements in housing, infrastructure and urban planning.
- A memorandum submitted by the Oil and Environment Minister and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs on water quality improvements in Tubli Bay following the implementation of water flow enhancement projects.
- A memorandum submitted by the ministerial committee for community services on public health service developments, comparing major 2024 initiatives with 2023.
