Bapco Refining chief executive Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery inaugurated the much-anticipated Bhavans Expo 2024-25 – celebrating the creativity of young scientific and artistic minds.
The ceremony took place at Bahrain Indian School’s auditorium and was attended by many other distinguished guests, welcomed by school directors Himanshu and Ritu Verma and principal Saji Jacob.
This year’s expo showcased an impressive array of approximately 80 innovative science projects, 50 mathematics models and 65 captivating art exhibits, all created by Bahrain Indian School students.
The event highlighted the genius of the young scholars, who engaged attendees with their insightful explanations and demonstrations.
“Each of these exhibits demonstrated the students’ deep understanding of mathematical concepts and their real-world applications,” said a school spokesperson.
“The artistic talents of the students were equally impressive, with displays that highlighted their creativity and skill. The art exhibits not only complemented the scientific endeavours but also provided a platform for students to express their interpretations of complex subjects through visual mediums.”
Among the standout displays were groundbreaking projects such as the Curiosity Rover on Mars, Rain Water Harvesting systems, and the Chandrayaan Mission model.
Students also presented a range of engaging scientific innovations, including a Phyto air purifying unit, a working model of a microscope addressing eye defects and a solar car prototype.
Additionally, the Brachistochrone curve experiment and a generator powered by a windmill showcased the practical applications of physics in innovative ways.
Mathematics was beautifully represented with projects like the 3-Dimensional Garden of Mathematical Shapes, a division machine, conic sections and methods for determining the height of buildings using a clinometer.
Mr Verma commended the students for their hard work and innovation. “The future of our world lies in the hands of these young minds,” he said. “Their passion for science, mathematics, and the arts will undoubtedly pave the way for future breakthroughs.”
Ms Verma also congratulated the students on their successful presentation of the concepts.
Mr Jacob added: “This Expo is a testament to the dedication of our students and faculty. It inspires us all to continue exploring the wonders of the world around us.”
Chief guest Dr Jawahery expressed his admiration for the event: “I was extremely impressed to see the level of knowledge of these young students. I commend the BIS management on the care they give to the students at the school. The level of knowledge of the young students is remarkable. Congratulations and I see many future leaders will be graduating from BIS. Well done!”
