There’s nothing quite like a beautifully designed park to offer a moment of respite, and Water Garden Park in Manama delivers just that.
A seamless blend of lush greenery, family-friendly attractions, and a scenic lake, it’s the perfect spot for a weekend outing, a quiet morning walk, or a fun-filled afternoon with the kids.
To make your visit a breeze, type in ‘water garden car parking’ to your mapping app to provide direct access to the main entrance and the ticket booth. It’s super affordable, with a ticket price of just 300fils for anyone 12 years and older, and you can even use Benefit to pay.
From the moment you enter, you’re greeted by botanical gardens brimming with diverse flora, each carefully labelled; ideal for those with an interest in nature. Paved walkways wind through the park, making it a joy to explore, whether on foot or scooter. A huge lake sits at the heart of the space, home to a variety of ducks, geese, and swans, including a striking lone black swan that has become something of a local favourite.
For families, the park is a dream come true. The children’s play area is packed with climbing structures, swings, slides and even a zip line, ensuring endless entertainment. There’s also a roundabout, a rarity these days, and plenty of space for little ones to run free. Visiting during Ramadan, we found it unusually quiet; our toddler made the most of the open paths, scooting happily while bird-spotting along the way.
There are vast green spaces perfect for a picnic or a moment of calm. And if all that fresh air leaves you peckish, the park boasts a gluten-free restaurant, a rare and welcome touch.
