Bahrain-based British blogger Jessica Bryant took to her TikTok platform to talk about ‘the worst travel day of her entire life’ after being caught up in the Heathrow Airport closure chaos, writes Melissa Nazareth.
The excited bride-to-be was travelling to the UK to meet up with her best friend for pre ‘hen do’ party preparations.
“About five in the morning, they (crew) said they can’t land at Heathrow and diverted us to Frankfurt,” she said in her TikTok video.
While she was shocked to learn of the reason for the detour – a fire had engulfed a substation near the airport on Thursday night, causing a power outage in the London Heathrow area – she decided to stay positive. However, her optimism soon turned into despair, eventually leading to her breaking down into tears.
“There was zero communication from any airline. I had no idea where my luggage was, no idea how I was going to get to the UK,” the content creator, who has close to 60,000 followers on TikTok and 19,000 fans on Instagram, went on to highlight in her reel.
Taking advice from a stranger at Frankfurt airport, the popular TikToker decided to get a flight back to the UK but when she arrived at Birmingham, in the English midlands and around 190km from London, she found out that her bags had been lost in transit.
Based on the comments section of the video, Ms Bryant has still not received her luggage, which contained her outfits and other valuables set to be worn at a party in Dubai.
“I had to sacrifice (throw away) half of my skin care because they wouldn’t let me on with x amount of liquid on the new flight (from Frankfurt to Birmingham),” a ‘devastated’ Ms Bryant, who has been living in Bahrain for the last six years, was seen saying in the video.
Finally, she took a train to London, where she arrived after 18 long hours of travel.
Sadly, she had already missed her wedding gown appointment and a lovely day that she had planned with her best friend.
Ms Bryant is known for her fashion, beauty and lifestyle content. She announced her engagement to fiancé and athlete Jack Phillips at the end of 2023.
