Joint initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable tourism development across the Arab region were on the agenda at a key meeting yesterday.
Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa met Arab Tourism Organisation president Dr Bandar bin Fahd Al Fuhaid on his official visit to Bahrain yesterday and discussed co-ordination to promote tourism.
Tourism Minister Fatima Al Sairafi was present.
The discussions covered planned programmes between the organisation and the Tourism Ministry, particularly in supporting tourism entrepreneurship, expanding training and capacity-building in tourism, hospitality and hotel services, and encouraging innovation and investment in the sector.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the kingdom’s commitment to positioning itself as a leading global tourism destination by investing in infrastructure, attracting international events and promoting regional and international partnerships.
These efforts, he noted, align with the goals of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad and followed up by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He also emphasised Bahrain’s dedication to supporting joint Arab action, particularly in tourism, given its role in driving sustainable economic growth and enhancing cultural and knowledge exchange across the region.
He commended the Arab Tourism Organisation’s efforts to empower industry professionals and create a dynamic and competitive tourism environment.
Shaikh Khalid received a copy of the organisation’s latest achievements report, a commemorative shield, and a sample of its newest project – the Arab Tourist Credit Card.
Dr Al Fuhaid praised the strong partnership between Bahrain and the organisation. He highlighted the kingdom’s ambitious tourism strategy and its notable achievements in promotion, product diversification and infrastructure integration.
