His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday patronised the annual ceremony organised by the Youth Affairs Ministry marking Bahrain Youth Day, which is observed on March 25.
The celebration was attended by ministers, officials and Bahraini youth contributing to the kingdom’s development.
Shaikh Nasser toured the ‘Exceptional Volunteer’ exhibition, which highlighted the Bahraini youth’s achievements in the fields of voluntary work.
The ceremony also featured a documentary on the leadership’s support to the youth sector and the Bahraini youngsters’ efforts to elevate the kingdom’s status through diverse accomplishments.
After a recitation of a poem by Sabeeka Al Shehi, Shaikh Nasser honoured 25 male and female youngsters for their excellence in the ‘Exceptional Volunteer’ initiative. He also honoured winners in the postage stamp designing competition related to the occasion. Hessa Ghazi, Dalal Bumtei and Marwan Abdullah clinched first, second and third places respectively.
Shaikh Nasser was presented with a commemorative gift, a special postage stamp designed specifically for this occasion.
A number of ministers, top government officials and heads of youth empowerment bodies and centres affirmed the care and attention that young people in Bahrain receive in the prosperous era of His Majesty, praising the initiatives and programmes that contribute to empowering Bahraini youth and enhancing their role in the comprehensive development process, on Bahrain Youth Day.
