A new executive committee of the Indian Ladies Association (ILA) has been elected – democratically for the first time in 69 years, according to a statement.
The 2025 team comprises president Smitha Jensen, vice-president Fousia Sulthana, treasurer Tessy Cherian, general secretary Vani Sreedhar, public relations secretary Shilpa Naik, entertainment secretary Sunanda Gaikwad, membership secretary Vijay Lakshmi, operations secretary Anuradha Sampath and activities secretary Kaihekushan Mohammed Omar Kazi.
Outgoing executive committee members handed over their duties to the new team during a pinning ceremony at Ramada Resort by Wyndham Manama Seef. Indian Embassy representatives Ravi Jain, Ravi Singh and Rajiv Mishra were present.
The event also honoured Meena Bhatia for her 50-year membership and bid farewell to Nivedita Dutta, a past president and active member for more than 25 years, as she prepares to leave Bahrain.
