Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi has announced the opening of submissions for the 2025 edition of the Prime Minister’s Journalism Award.
Applications will be accepted until April 15.
The minister yesterday affirmed that the advancement of Bahraini journalism reflects the continued support of His Majesty King Hamad, who has enabled the media to fulfil its national role as a key partner in the kingdom’s comprehensive development.
His Majesty’s support has fostered a modern media environment that keeps pace with global trends and encourages innovation and meaningful contribution from journalists.
He also expressed the Bahraini Press community’s appreciation for the generous patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, whose commitment to supporting journalism and media professionals is embodied in the continuation of the Prime Minister’s Journalism Award, a distinguished platform recognising excellence and creativity in the field.
Dr Al Nuaimi noted that the 2025 edition builds on the success of previous years, further encouraging Bahraini media professionals to produce high-quality content that reflects the kingdom’s progress across sectors.
The award also supports young talent from journalism and media faculties and encourages local newspapers to diversify their digital offerings in line with evolving media trends.
He concluded by reaffirming the ongoing role of Bahraini journalism in promoting awareness, safeguarding the integrity of information and showcasing national achievements under the leadership of His Majesty.
The minister extended his best wishes to all participants in the upcoming edition.
The 2025 Prime Minister’s Journalism Award includes the following categories:
n The Best Column Award
n The Best Investigative Journalism Award
n The Best Journalistic Interview Award
n The Best Journalistic Photo Award
n The Best Newspaper Niche Page or Supplement Award
n The Best Press Institution’s Website or Electronic Account Award
n The Best Visual Journalistic Content (video) Award
n The Best Infographic Report Award
n The Best University Student Journalism Project Award
n The 2024 Journalism Personality Award
n Journalist of the Year award, presented to a media figure who has made a significant impact on the Bahraini media landscape.
Eligible entries must be published in the local Press during 2024. Student projects must be from the 2024-2025 academic year and submitted by journalism or media faculties at Bahraini universities.
Each media institution may submit one entry per individual per category. University departments may nominate up to 10 video projects in the student journalism category. Submitted works must not have received prior local or international awards.
Entries must include a completed nomination form, provided to media and academic institutions in accordance with the committee’s procedures. Further details, including eligibility and category guidelines, are available on the ministry’s website: www.mia.gov.bh.
