The Public Prosecution has ordered to hold a defendant in custody and refer him to an expedited trial for assaulting a lawyer while on duty at the Sharia Courts Complex in Hunainiya, the Southern Governorate Deputy Chief Prosecutor announced.
The Public Prosecution launched an investigation into the incident upon receiving a complaint from the victim.
The defendant admitted to the charges levelled at him and said that he had assaulted the lawyer because he was representing his ex-wife.
The incident occurred right after the lawyer had left a court session at the Sharia Courts Complex in Hunainiya.
The Public Prosecution has ordered to hold the defendant in custody and refer him to the Lower Criminal Court for an expedited trial on April 7.
