FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S women’s football national team have been drawn in a challenging group for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 Qualifiers.
The draw was held at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the 34 participating teams. There are eight groups in all – six of which have four teams and the other two with five apiece.
The Bahrainis are in Group C with Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Turkmenistan.
Each of the groups will be held in a central location, and the eight group winners will punch their tickets to next year’s AFC Women’s Asian Cup, scheduled for March 1 to 26.
They will join defending champions China, South Korea, Japan, and hosts Australia in the tournament.
The qualifiers are scheduled for June 23 to July 5. Bahrain’s group will be held in Myanmar.
Group A features Iran, Lebanon, Singapore, Bhutan, and hosts Jordan; Group B is composed of India, Mongolia, Timor-Leste, Iraq, and hosts Thailand; Group D includes Chinese Taipei, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan; and hosts Indonesia; Group E features Guam, the UAE, Maldives, and hosts Vietnam; Group F is composed of Nepal, Laos, Sri Lanka, and hosts Uzbekistan; Group G comprises the Philippines, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, and hosts Cambodia; and Group H includes North Korea, Malaysia, Palestine, and hosts Tajikistan.
A number of Bahrain’s women’s national team players are also part of the kingdom’s women’s futsal national team.
The futsal squad are currently gearing up for their participation in the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup 2025, set to be held in China in May.
