Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani was honoured by the US Army Command and General Staff College in Leavenworth, Kansas, following his induction into the college’s Hall of Fame.
The honour recognises distinguished alumni who have held senior positions in their countries.
Commandant of the College Lieutenant General Milford H Beagle praised the honourees for their distinguished service, highlighting Dr Al Zayani’s contributions to strengthening Bahrain’s international partnerships. The ceremony included the Bahraini national anthem and the presentation of a certificate of recognition.
Dr Al Zayani described the honour as a milestone in his career and a reflection of the values that shaped his professional journey. He expressed gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad for his continued support throughout his military, security and diplomatic service, noting that His Majesty was the first Bahraini graduate of the college and among its earliest Hall of Fame inductees.
The Foreign Minister also expressed appreciation for the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He highlighted the support of BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa in his personal and professional development.
He commended the education and values instilled by the college, which, he said, have shaped his personal growth and professional contributions. He noted that true leadership requires more than authority; it requires insight into purpose, people and context, and the ability to align actions with a clear vision while remaining adaptable.
Dr Al Zayani reflected on the importance of adaptability in his transition from military service to leading Bahrain’s Public Security Forces in support of His Majesty’s comprehensive development process and political vision, aimed at building public trust and enhancing law enforcement through community partnership.
He said it was a privilege to be appointed Foreign Minister by His Majesty in 2020 and emphasised his commitment to advancing His Majesty’s vision for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Middle East founded on mutual understanding.
Dr Al Zayani underlined his dedication to applying the principles he learned at the college to support regional and international peace and security, particularly given the growing need for international co-operation to address shared global challenges.
The ceremony was attended by Bahrain’s Ambassador to the US Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Military Attache in Washington Brigadier Jassim Al Jowder, Director General of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Talal Abdulsalam Al Ansari, Ambassador Saeed Abdul Khaliq, chief of Co-ordination and Follow Up; senior military officers, students at the college, and members of Bahrain’s diplomatic mission in Washington.
