BOWLING – PREPARATIONS continue to step up for the third edition of the Khalid Bin Hamad Bowling Championship, to be held from April 29 to May 10 at Funland Centre.
The competition is to be held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
It is set to feature nearly BD25,000 in prize money, with BD7,500 going to the champion.
The event is sanctioned by the International Bowling Federation, the European Bowling Federation, the Asian Bowling Federation, and the Bahrain Bowling Association (BBA).
The tournament’s organising committee held a meeting to discuss ongoing work ahead of the competition. BBA president Saleh Al Bufalah chaired the gathering. The tournament venue along with the rules and regulations were approved, while the preparations for the alleys were reviewed.
The needs of the players and delegations were also discussed, along with transportation arrangements and the provision of all services to both local and international participants.
BBA vice-president and organising committee vice-chairman Ahmed Al Binzaid pointed out that all working committees are in the final stages of completing their tasks, especially after gaining accreditation to attract a number of prominent bowlers from all across the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and elsewhere.
Binzaid also noted that field visits are to be conducted by the organising committee to ensure that everything is in place for the tournament.
