THE Pontifical Holy Childhood Society was officially inaugurated during a special ceremony at the Our Lady of Arabia Cathedral in Awali.
The society’s mission centres on fostering solidarity, prayer, charity and mutual support to ensure that children across the world have access to the fundamental resources of education, healthcare and overall well-being.
It is part of a global initiative by the Catholic Church dedicated to providing aid to children suffering from poverty, conflict and crisis in underprivileged regions.
The inaugural Mass, which marked the beginning of this new initiative, was led by Bishop Aldo Berardi, accompanied by clergy members, local leaders and a congregation of parishioners.
“We must pray for children, but we must also teach them to pray for one another,” he said, during his homily.
The Holy Childhood Society aims to foster a sense of global responsibility and solidarity among children.
The service concluded with the solemn oath-taking ceremony, where children who are members of the society pledged to pray, share and help as part of their commitment to its mission. Bahrain is one of the first nation in the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia (AVONA) to launch this initiative, with other countries in the region expected to follow suit soon.
The ceremony also included a presentation of awards to the winners of the Missio-AVONA essay and drawing competition.
