BAHRAIN is set to host a major regional conference on emission monitoring and air quality solutions for industry and environmental regulators in the Middle East and the surrounding regions.
The 35th CEM Middle East Conference and Exhibition on Emissions and Air Quality Monitoring will take place from April 8 to 10 at the Gulf Convention Centre in Manama.
Since its inception in 1997, CEM conferences have been hosted by countries such as the UK, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and India. This will be the first time the event will be held in the Middle East.
It will be organised by ILM Exhibitions with the support of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) and held in the presence of Oil and Environment Minister and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Daina.
Delegates and visitors attending will have the opportunity to gain invaluable insights into the latest technologies, products and solutions for monitoring and measuring industrial emissions and air quality.
The conference is expected to highlight the growing urgency of environmental sustainability and air monitoring solutions in the region.
“The Middle East is home to major industries that contribute to air emissions, impacting both the environment and public health,” said CEM in a statement yesterday.
“As the dominant industry, the oil and gas sector emits significant amounts of greenhouse gases, sulphur dioxide and volatile organic compounds during extraction, refining and distribution.
“Power generation in the region is heavily reliant on fossil fuels which emit pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and particulate matter.
“The region’s booming construction and manufacturing industries produce airborne pollutants such as cement dust, sulphur oxides and heavy metals.
“The conference will reflect the growing urgency of environmental sustainability in the region.”
The exhibition will cover a range of topics and themes, including air quality, air monitoring, clean energy and challenges, regulations, emission and dust measurement and greenhouse gases.
Day one will feature opening remarks by SCE Environmental Monitoring and Protection director Luma Almahroos.
Other lectures on the day include talks on Industrial Emission Regulations by leading provider of environment management solutions Jürgen Reinmann and Real Time Environmental Monitoring by environment and sustainability professional Sanjeev Kanchan.
On the second day, lectures will cover talks on Emission Monitoring from technical expert Faisal Raza and Aramco control system professional Ali Aldossary.
The third and final day will focus on topics such as Greener and Smarter Gas Emission Monitoring by Drone Technology, given by Aramco senior engineering consultant Soliman Alwalaie and Advanced Continuous Emissions Detection by optical gas imaging expert Stephen Beynon.
Those interested in attending can register for the event online on ilmexhibitions.com/cem-middleeast. Visitors must provide their full name, company name, job title, and email in the online form.
Once registered, they can collect their complimentary badge in the foyer area of the exhibition hall.
