A total of 5,849 labour disputes have been looked into by courts over the past 30 months, it has been revealed.
Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Nawaf Al Maawda said that verdicts have been issued in 4,924 cases while 925 trials were still underway.
The minister was responding, in writing, to a question by Strategic Thinking Bloc member Bassema Mubarak on labour disputes.
“The courts take an average of 3.3 months for a verdict to be issued in such cases,” he said.
“If employers are found guilty, we ask them to make compensation payments willingly, or else their properties, accounts and dealings are put on hold.
“Eighty-five per cent of cases get execution orders in one day. However, actual implementation varies depending on employers’ financial status.”
